According to Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein, Kobbie Mainoo has asked Manchester United to sanction a loan move this season. The midfielder, who is considered one of the most promising players to emerge from the academy, informed the club that his priority is to secure regular game time.

 Mainoo’s request is motivated by his desire to continue developing and remain in contention for international opportunities, with a clear view on the World Cup in the future. Importantly, the 19-year-old has no interest in leaving permanently. Instead, he insists that a loan move is the best path for his progression.

However, Manchester United have rejected his request. The club has told Mainoo and his representatives that he is regarded as a crucial part of the squad and will not be allowed to leave, not even temporarily. With over 10 clubs already expressing interest in taking him on loan, the situation is creating growing tension. Talks between Mainoo’s camp and the club are ongoing, as the youngster remains firm on wanting guaranteed minutes.

Garnacho Seals Chelsea Switch

In a separate and surprising development, Alejandro Garnacho is officially leaving Old Trafford. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea and Manchester United have struck an agreement for the Argentine winger.

The deal is worth around £40 million including add-ons, with a 10% sell-on clause included in United’s favour. Garnacho only wanted Chelsea and has already traveled to London for medicals and to finalize a seven-year contract with the Blues.

The 20-year-old’s departure marks one of the most shocking moves of the summer transfer window. For United fans, losing such a dynamic attacker to a direct Premier League rival is a bitter blow.

Højlund Close to Napoli Move

Adding to the upheaval, striker Rasmus Højlund is on the verge of joining Napoli. Romano reports that the Serie A champions are confident of finalising a deal in the coming days.

The structure of the transfer will see Højlund move initially on loan, with a mandatory buy clause included. The total package is expected to be worth around €45 million, with the Dane set to sign a long-term deal until June 2030. Talks are at the final stage, with only minor details left to be resolved.

With Mainoo’s future still uncertain, Garnacho already on his way to Chelsea, and Højlund preparing to join Napoli, Manchester United are enduring one of the most turbulent transfer windows in recent years.
