Manchester United’s new head coach Ruben Amorim has officially started his journey with the club, overseeing his first training session on Monday at the Carrington training complex. With many players away on international duty, Amorim focused on a smaller group of first-team players, supplemented by Academy talents.
Despite limited numbers, the session provided the Portuguese manager with an early chance to evaluate his squad and begin preparations for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
The training session saw the return of Kobbie Mainoo, who is working his way back to full fitness after sustaining an injury against Aston Villa in October. Amad also took part, having recovered from a knock picked up in the Leicester City match that kept him out of Ivory Coast's international fixtures.
Defenders Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Leny Yoro joined the session as they continue their efforts to regain match fitness following injuries. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof returned to Carrington for assessments after withdrawing from the Argentina and Sweden squads due to health concerns.
With only ten senior players available for training, Amorim called up several Academy prospects to complete the group. Their inclusion highlights the manager’s focus on blending experience with youth, a hallmark of Manchester United’s identity. This also provided an opportunity for the young talents to make a strong impression on the new coach.
Amorim’s debut match as head coach is set to take place on Sunday, with the Reds traveling to face Ipswich Town. This Premier League encounter is expected to test Amorim’s early tactical adjustments and his ability to inspire a team looking to climb the league standings.
The return of international players later this week will give Amorim a full squad to work with for the first time. Fans will be eager to see how he integrates his ideas into the team and manages the balance between seasoned players and emerging stars.
Amorim’s arrival has brought a wave of optimism, with supporters hoping his dynamic approach and tactical acumen will spark a turnaround in United’s fortunes. Known for his success in developing young players and implementing high-energy football, Amorim has the tools to rejuvenate the squad.
As Manchester United enters this new chapter, all eyes will be on Sunday’s match to witness the first glimpse of Amorim’s impact on the Reds.
